Nuts are also often added to a dish to increase flavor but it is also ideal to do so because of its low saturated fat content. Though nuts are generally healthy, it is still a high calorie snack. An ounce of nuts carries around 160 to 200 calories.

It is then suggested to make nuts an alternative to foods with high saturated fat, limiting its daily consumption to about 1 to 2 ounces. Add nuts when eating baked apples, oatmeal, salads, or dried fruits. Like everything else, it is still better to take it in moderation. Too much of anything is bad, as they say. And nuts are no different especially if a well balanced diet is what a person is aiming for.
